I finally had the pleasure of visiting
Doug up on Bourke in person during my holidays. It was a treasure trove of
goodies! I limited myself to a spool and letterpress 'G' as the prices were pretty high and the stuff I really liked wouldn't have fitted into my boot. No hat block unfortunately as that is what I was looking for!!! The staff are super friendly and helpful though - give yourself a couple of hours if you want to meander about.
I love this place. I go there whenever I feel the need to have a rummage. I usually go looking for the foot/shoe lasts, or the old wooden letterpress/letters. Have a bit of a facination with them.Took my 28 year old son there last time, couldn't get him out of there..Terese
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Doug Up on Bourke!!! Did you got to the Country Trader too? That makes Doug Up prices seem very reasonable, well and truly worth a visit if you've not been there.
ReplyDeleteI am desperately wanting to take a visit, my heart seriously starts to race everytime I see pictures!
ReplyDeleteOh i knew you'd get there, yippee for you!! Maybe i'll have to come next time, 4WD plus trailer?? Love Posie
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful place to explore! In Brisbane we have the Paddington Antique center which is full to the brim of all sorts of amazing goodies. Alas, with price tags to match. Still, I picked up a vase at the oppy for the other day for $2 and when I showed my Dad he informed me that it was Royal Doulton. Good buy!
