Window Display: Water Colour Flowers

Some more breathtaking and inspiring work from Anthropology, this sort of stuff keeps me awake at night - I kid you not.  These gorgeous flowers from water colour paper in a display at the Market Street store, San Fransico.    Check out Anthropology's Pinterest board, Adventures in natural dyeing (photos from there).

Blog Love: Funkytime

I love finding a new blog that I know I will return to over and over again - Funkytime has some brilliant downloads and a lot of cool stuff on the blog.  This was a recent dining room make-over...
How fun and happy is this room!  I really like a big print on the wall.  This was a photo shoot Sibylle had done with some iceblocks she made - awesome.   You can see more of her house tours on Apartment Therapy!  Just do a search for Sibylle as there are quite a few entries.

Cool Boys T Shirt

This t-shirt cost $9 to make instead of the $30-40 prices cool kids t-shirts can fetch.  I bought a $5 pre-made shirt from Target, balloon download $1 on Etsy and the most amazing transfer artist paper (TAP)- thanks to Cirque du Bebe for the tip off!!!  It is amazing stuff - you can now purchase it in Spotlight, it was on sale so it cost $3 per sheet.  Apart from the shirt being mighty wide compared to Josiah's Bonds shirts, I love it!

When I printed the image onto the TAP - I then cut around the balloon to minimise the amount of polymer showing on the shirt... (instead of a A4 big square).  I did have a blonde moment thinking the white would show up in between the balloon strings but as you can see it doesn't.  It irons on clear just as the instructions say!  I really should read ALL my instructions.  The other thing I love about Lesley Riley's transfer paper is you can draw on it and iron on!!!!  Imagine the possibilities :-)

Feather Diamante Hair Piece: Handmade Hair Accessories

Champagne Nagoire and Ostrich pinchers with a rhinestone motif.  The ostrich feathers dance around your head at their own leisure.  This piece is so much more sparkly in real life and would look great worn as an alternative to a veil or for a Great Gatsy themed event!  Listed in my Etsy store.

Delicious Recipes: Katie Quinn Davies

What Katie Ate, author; Katie Quinn Davies develops her own recipes along with her amazing photography of food!!! These salads made me lean right into the screen and give a, "mmmmm". The word salad makes me think, spring is a comin' but looking at the yummy ingredients I think they are hearty enough to enjoy now :-) The Chilli prawn and brown rice salad above will be first on my list, I started a relationship with brown rice last year - it's a good one.
What Aussie doesn't love a good pav? Well I am sure there are some but this  one looks Amaaaaazing and would get thumbs up in my family.  I might have to wait 'till summer when I don't have to mortgage my house for that many raspberries :-) Katie kindly gives away a lot of recipes too, you'll find a PDF to download at the bottom of most newer posts.

Good news... Katie's book comes out in October 2012. There is a US version and an Australian version, so make sure you buy the right one!! HUBBY - take note: "Christmas wish list" - pretty please :-)

Children's Activity: Matching Colours

We saw this idea on Pinterest and made up our own colour matching game.  The wooden pegs and paint chips were from Bunnings.  I was too lazy to glue the colour to the top of the peg, I just 'pegged' it.  This game didn't grab Anya as much as the mini clothes line but it was also given to her at the end of crafting and I think she had run out of interest in sitting at the table - 'doing'.   We will try again another time.

My little man got his first hair cut!!!  He looks like a big boy now :-)

Forties Style Wedding: Beaded Hair Accessories

Do you remember these hair pieces I made?  They were for this beautiful bride's bridesmaids.  Although I don't have a detailed shot of the bridesmaid's wearing them, you get the idea.
The stunning images are from Mihaja Photography, I love how they captured this wedding and the beautiful style Nicole created.  You can see oodles more images on their blog.  Thanks Caroline!  Oh and just to clarify I didn't make the bride's gorgeous hair piece.

Elie Saab: Couture

Elie Saab doesn't put a foot wrong with his frocks if you ask me :-)  This colour is amazing, there is barely a piece in his collection I don't like.  This gold dress is perfect for my figure though, so pretty.

I would wear any of his dresses in a heart-beat!  Oh to get married again...(same man)!

Beautiful Art by Amy Borrell

Isn't this a happy picture!  It is a painting by Amy Borrell called The Big Bang, via Little Paper Planes.

You might recognise Amy's work from Finders Keepers or Frankie Magazine among many other cool places?!  Lots of great giclee prints available in Amy's shop.

Enjoy perusing her blog for lots of pretty images.  I am a sucker for watercolour.

Vintage Millinery Inspiration

Via Julie Fleming
I have been enjoying perusing old Millinery books online and learning a few tips here or there, I found some great links via Hatstruck!
Via Betulla
This was the gem for me, finding a book on handmade fabric flowers, circa 1922 by Ada Jones Smith.  I've started experimenting with some of her techniques.  I love learning new tricks!!
